1. Who we are
TaxPrepUK is a web application that helps UK sole traders and landlords prepare spreadsheet data for Making Tax Digital (MTD) ITSA quarterly submissions. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is protected.
2. Your financial data
We do not see, store, or transmit your financial data. Your spreadsheet is processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. The transaction data, amounts, dates, and categories in your spreadsheet never leave your device. No financial data is sent to our servers at any point.
3. Account data
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password (via Supabase). We store session metadata — file name, quarter, income type, transaction count, and aggregated totals — so you can view your history in the dashboard. This metadata does not contain individual transaction details.
4. Payment data
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, a Merchant of Record. We do not handle or store your credit card information. Lemon Squeezy provides us with your subscription status (plan tier) via webhook. Their privacy policy applies to payment processing.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use functional cookies required for authentication (managed by Supabase). We may use privacy-friendly analytics (such as Plausible) that do not use tracking cookies or store personal data. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. Account deletion removes your profile, session history, and all associated metadata from our systems within 30 days.
7. Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion. Aggregated session metadata is retained to provide session history. We do not retain your financial data because we never receive it.
